At Patricia, ordering coffee is as simple as saying – white, black or filter.

Ask for a latte or cappuccino and it’ll still come out the same, (white) in one of their expensive ceramic cups. Unless of course you order ‘soy’, in which case they’ll use the Bonsoy goodness. But on top of that, you get to choose from one of the four well known brands of coffee in Melbourne: Seven Seeds, Proud Mary, Market Lane or Small Batch.

If you’re not already impressed with the place, they also give you sparkling water to sip on whilst you wait for your coffee – classy! On the day, we went with 2 soy whites (Seven Seeds & Market Lane) and I ordered a standard white (Seven Seeds), which was excellent but unfortunately, the two soy ‘latte’s came out ‘lumpy’. Let’s hope it was a once-off!

It can be a bit difficult to find, being hidden away along little williams st, just down the stairs from Movida Aqui & Paco’s Tacos. But once you find this retro cafe, you’ll constantly be back to enjoy a hit on the window sill with some pastries to go with. That’s the other thing – no seats and no brunch menu. But the coffee and experience are more than enough of a reason to visit.
